My son and I celebrated the beginning of the New Year together with my best friend and his girlfriend.

Hi,
now some days past and I will start with my writing about the U2 show in Hannover (12. August 2010).
We stood up very early in the morning and reached the arena at 9:30am. I think 400 people were waiting at this moment at this rainy day. My son Konstantin and I were getting in lane and now we must wait by 4pm to go in. I had a lot of good chats with other fans. In the meantime the rain stopped and sometime the sun came out. U2 started at 9:45pm. The four Irish were in such a great mood and I must say the gig was better as the year before. We stood very close to the front stage. This is my intention ever.
I can't describe my feelings at this moment, because I had a lot of emotions about this fantastic U2 night.

I made more than 250 pics and so I start with the first one and I will continue over the next weeks with pics and some minds about the show.

U2 in Germany

Hi,

today I got two tickets for U2 in Hannover / Germany next month from a good friend. He stay in holiday and so I got the two tickets from him. The tickets are "Standing room" inside the stadium. Now I must be very early in front of the stadium to get in to be in one of the first rows. I think the best time is 9 or 10 o'clock in the morning. I must go up very early, because the ride is two hours with the car to the north. I'm so happy to see U2 again.
Hope one of my kids will be go with me.
I will write a review after this gig.

"The last station" a movie

Hi my friends,

Maria asked me to write a review about the movie “The last station” direkted and produced by the American film director Michael Hoffmann

I watched this movie yesterday night at an open air cinema together with my sister and my brother in law.

Here is the short review:

The movie based on a novel written by the autor Jay Parini. I never heard about this autor before.

The movie show us the last summer 1910 in the life of Leo Tolstoy.
It’s the story about Tolstoy and his wife Sophia Tolstaya. He will change his testament (the authorisation of his books) in favour of the Russian nation and so he get in a conflict with his wife. But both in love together. As consequence Tolstoy leave his wife and home and at the end he is dying about pneumonia in a railwaystation in Astapova. There is a second love story between Walentin Bulgakow and Mascha, but I don’t know if this is only fiction.

The basic actors are:

- Leo Tolstoy: Christopher Plummer
- Sophia Tolstaya: Helen Mirren
- Walentin Bulgakow: James McAvoy
- Wladimir Tschertkow: Paul Giamatti
- Sacha Tolstoy: Anne Marie Duff
- Mascha: Kerry Condon
- Sergejenko: Patrick Kennedy

It’s a great movie but sometimes with little longueurs. The actors all brilliant, especial Hellen Mirren and Christopher Plummer. The production was made in the east of Germany, but I read the landscape looks the same as in Russian. The movie is very informative and you can learn some about the last year of Leo Tolstoy’s life and the people which try to influence him.

I never read a book written by Tolstoy, but now my interest is aroused.

If you have the chance to watch this movie, do it.

"The Skipper's Child" written by Valerie Poore (book review)

Hi,

last week I started with reading the new book written by Val (Valerie Poore). Good we had bad weather with a lot of snow here, so I could read every evening and yesterday night I finished "The Skipper's Child".

It's a book written for these winter days.
The novel started at 21. December 1962. The story is about a young boy called Arie and he spent his school holidays together with his both sisters on their parents barge (the Rival). The barge is on her way from Gent (Belgium) to France ...
I do not want to write about the story, because I hate accurate book contents. Every one should read it by himself. Only some words about. It's a mystery story and a book about familie life.

Val's book is written so great and I was dunking in the deep of the words and the story. It was if I reside on this barge, but I never stood on one. I saw the waterways and the snow on the boat. Very good was the writing about the familie solidarity. The cohabitate of the three kids and their parents on the limitedness on a barge. I love this book and it's written in an awesome speech. Hope it will find a lot of readers. It's a very exciting book and if you start, you will go on and on.

Dear friends,

I wish you all a peaceful 4. Advent and and next week a Merry Christmas.

Today it's very cold outside (-13° celsius). We have some snow and the countryside looks like a baker sprinkled some white sugar over the trees, the land and houses.
I'm sitting here at home and I will be writing the last Christmas cards, later. Listen to some music and near me a bowl of Christmas cakes.
Together with my both kids I opened our bakery last sunday.
I finished the Christmas shopping and now all presents are waiting to find her way under the Christmas tree.

Silbermond

Hi,

last saturday my both kids and I saw the German band "Silbermond".
The gig was taking place in Bielefeld, 1.5 hours away from Kassel.
The weather was very bad and rainy. We arrieved at 5 o'clock and we got the numbers 113 - 115 for the entrance. So we could stand in one of the first rows. (more than 7000 people stood in the arena). It was the forth time we saw the band. The last time it was in May this year.

I'm not a friend of German rock / pop music, but "Silbermond" is the exception.
It's a group with such a power. They made three CD's with great songs and I love the fantastic lyrics.
Live they are on the same level like Bruce Springsteen. You can feel all the music passion the band give the audience every night. After the show (125 minuten) we and some others were waiting in the arena and so we had the luck to meet Stefanie, Nowi, Hannes and Thomas. They gave autographs and were talking with the fans.

It was a great night for us and we hope to see "Silbermond" again in the near future.

... eight days have past and the music is still in my head. COLDPLAY done a fantastic gig last week. I saw lots of bands live, but Coldplay is one of the best. Chris, Guy, Jonny and Will played loud and clear and we could understand every word and every instrument. I feel that they love to play her music live and I hope to see them again in the near future.

Hi,

Friday I got the new CD from Mark Oliver Everett (E), or better known as EELS.

The CD is named "HOMBRE LOBO 12 songs of desire".

The first time I heard about EELS, was as he stood together with Rachel, Pete and Mikey at one of the legendary "In the Attic" shows.
I own the CD EELS with strings (Live at Town Hall). A great CD, too.

The new one contains alternate Rock songs and slowly songs. It's difficult to characterize his music. It's EELS!

London (five) "Amy MacDonald"

Hi, I'm back again.

This time I will write some about our evening at the Roundhouse
(9. October 2008) in Camden/London.

As I started to prepare our London week, we had the wish to see a performance at Covent Garden and a "Rock" concert.
I visited the Ticketmaster UK webside and discovered. There was announced a gig from the Scottish singer/songwriter lady Amy MacDonald.
I loved her CD "This is the Life".
The first time I heard abot Amy was 2008. She was playing at the Royal Albert Hall (Teenage Cancer Trust).
So I bought tickets for us three online and waited to get them, but no tickets arrived. Now I send some mails, but I got no answer. The last step was a phone call to London and it comes in the way I thought about. I heard the speaking of a waiting loop. (This is what I love every day"... please hold the line...)"I try it several times and days later I could speak with a lady and I told her the story and her answer was: "Come to the Roundhouse and pick up your tickets."
OK, this we done.
The Thursday morning we drove with the underground to Camden. There was a nice young lady, but she had no tickets for us. First two hours before the gig Ticketmaster give us the tickets, she told us. So we drove back to Kensington and made some shopping. Last but not least we got the tickets before the gig.

The show was sold out since month. We had the luck to be in one of the first rows.

It was a very good performance. Amy was playing acustic guitar and the band was fantastic too. She was playing all songs from her CD and some new.

The acoustic version of the Bruce Springsteen song "Dancing in the dark" was a highlight. Amy was speaking a lot with the crowds, but I understand only a few. She has such a Scottish accent. Amy was smiling every time and I think she like to be on the stage.

I must say it was a fantastic evening and if she is comming in the future near to Kassel we try to buy tickets again.

I promise to come back at the end of the month with the last post about London.

London (four)

Hi,

now it's time to go on with my London diary.

I try to start my writing earlier, but every day it's the same. To much work and no free minutes.
This morning I had a walk to town to have a look at some bookshops, but I found nothing. It's good that I have a lot of books I haven't read up to now. On my bed is lying since some days the new P.D. James (The Private Patient). I bought this one in London from the bookshop Hatchards. We have not such a good shop in my hometown, mostly only shops like Waterstones. There are some small, but ever I miss books written by unusual writers.

Thursday we saw the weather was on the same way like the days before and so we drove with the Subway to St.Pauls Cathedral.

First we visited the Cathedral inside. St. Pauls is an imposing building and my both kids loved the Cathedral. Konstantin and I climbed up the stairs to the top. I read it must be 528 steps. Charlotte dosn't like such high positions and so we done it alone. We had a fantastic view.

After this exhausting climbing we had a coffee and later we went on with some shopping.

The evening ended with a fantastic gig by an extraordinary young singer songwriter lady. She is very popular. More, if I'm continue with London (five).

Wednesday we got up not late in the mornig and we saw only some clouds on the blue heaven. Such weather we had the rest of the week.

Or first stop was the Changing of the Horse Guards Parade.
The next we had a look on the House of Parliament and Big Ben from the Westminster Bridge.

After this we stopped at the Tate Modern. I can recommend every London visitors to go and see the exhibitions at this house. My kids and I love the Tate Modern with her great art exhibition. The best were that we saw "The Pack" from Joseph Beuys, which is a loan from a museum in Kassel. The museum is near the river Thames and after our visit we had a short walk over the Millennium Bridge to St. Pauls Cathedral.

We did some more shopping in the afternoon and had a tee with scones at Fortum and Mason.
The evening we closed with "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera house Covent Garden. I saw this ballet, written by Pjotr Iljitsch Tschaikowski, years before, but I couldn't remember any details. Carly has a good CD (Conductor: Valery Gergiev)and so we know the music very good. Mostly the people only know the Swan Lake op. 20 - Suite. The performance and the orchestra was great. We saw a colourful scenery.

London (two)

Thursday was our first day in London and we celebrated Konstantin's 13th birthday.
We took some presents with us and so he had something to unwrap. Charlotte had mad a cake for him.
After this we had a good english breakfast and later we walked a little bit through Kensington.
An other stop these day was the Royal Oper House "Covent Garden" to took our tickets for Swan Lake for the next day. I booked them some month before.

The weather was not very good and so we drove with the Underground to the Tower of London. I visited this place years ago and this time I wanted to give my kids the time to see this old place in London. I read in my travel guidebook, the best time to go, should be the early afternoon. This was a very good time, because we hadn't to wait to go in. We spent a long time in the Tower to see all.

As we finished our visiting and went out, a shower of rain was falling over us. Now we had to do a run to the underground.
The next stop was at the Oxford Street and our shopping tour started.
The rain was flowing away and we saw no more rain this week. (A lot of people in Germany think there is just only bad weather in the UK, but we know that it's different.)

We closed the evening with a great birthday dinner at an italien restaurant in Kensington.

London (one)

Hi,

we are back from the UK.

Here in Germany the kids had autumn holidays for two weeks and I promised this summer my both to go to London.
So we started sunday the 5. October early in the morning. We must drive 6,5 hours to reach Calais in France. Here we took a ferry to Dover. I couldn't made pictures, because it was raining and we had very, very stormy weather on the canal. The ferry swinging and I thought to sit in an furious rocking chair.

Our first stop in England was the town Ramsgate to have fish and chips with salt and malt. Then we drove to a farm in Kent (near Ashford). I booked bed and breakfast for one night.

The next day we drove to Brighton to visiting the Sealife Center.
After this, we took a stop at the Wakehurst Place in West Sussex. There is an old historic house and a large country garden (founded and administered by the Royal Botanic Garden, Kew). We had a long walk in the garden. The weater was misty with some rain, and so we saw the garden in a darker light. It was an autumn light. I love such weather.

This was our last stop before we reached London. The hotel I booked has his place in Kensington. I stood here several times in the past. Kensington is a central place in London to visiting the town. I like this space.

Autumn in Germany

Hi all together,

a long time I was isolated from my blog, because I had no free time and therefore my blogging wandered in the back row of my thought. Sorry for this.

In the meantime I bought some new CD's.
One is from the canadian lady Kathlen Edwards (Ottawa, Ontario).
I read some about her music and so I ordered her last CD "Asking for flowers". Great music. This is my favorite this fall. I listen again and again. Sie has such a fantastic voice.

In Germany the fall is comming nearer every day. The trees going to change her colors to yellow and red and starting to loose the leafs. The sun disappear behind the dark clouds and the rain ist comming down on earth. Inside we sitting with candels and drinking good english tee, reading a book and listen to the music.

Now I will prepare some birthday presents for my son (he will be 13 next week.)and so I must stop my writing.

Bruce Springsteen 16. June 2008 (Düsseldorf)

Dear friends,

It's a sunny sunday today and I will starting with my writing about one of the best shows I ever saw.

First I say, I love the music from "The Boss" since his work "Born to run" 1975.

Here my review:

Monday morning I was going up early in the morning to see Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band in Düsseldorf. It was an open air concert in a stadium. With the car I had to drive 2,5 hours. I front of the stadium I was waiting some hours together with a lot of fans. The gates were opened at 5:30pm and the show started at 8pm. This show wasn't sold out this night, because the German had to do an EM soccer play. (I don't like soccer.)

The band started her gig with "Jackson Cage". But after some minutes the sound failed. Only the audience celebrate a party. Bruce was making a laugh and he said: "We starting to hard". Some minutes later they going on with "Night". All was working well, but as Clarence began his solo on "Radio Nowhere" a second time the sound fade away. What a funny joke. Bruce, Nils, Steven and Clarence gave a prayer and after this, Bruce walked to the front fencing, chatting with the folks in the first rows and gave some autographs. Some time later little Steven was crying: " Quick, while it's working" and now the race was starting after Bruce words: "The E-Street Band is 100% live". Such a power I never saw before. All of the band were in a great mood. One song after the other, only interrupted with Bruce's one, two, three, four.... Very often he was crying: "Steve come on, once more". I only miss "Patti Scialfa". Think she wasn't commming with the band to Europe. My favorite song was "Trapped". Nils played a fantastic never ending solo on "Because The Night". Bruce was walking without stopping on the stage. I must say it once more, Bruce and the band had such a power this night. On "Darlington County" Bruce and Nils sat together on the stage and had a lot of fun (see my pic). One high point was "She's The One" and of course "Badlands". From the last CD I love "Girls In Their Summer Clothes". All members of the E-Street Band played an enormous set. The sax from Clarence fulfiled the arena with a brilliant sound and Max and Gerry gave the power framework. Not to forget the piano from Roy Bittan. I love his piano play. On Violine we heard and saw Soozie Tyrell. She gave the music a litte bit of country. Last but not least Steven Van Zandt and Nis Lofgren on guitar. This both mens were playing like the devil. FANTASTIC!!! The name of the keyboarder which replaced the missing Danny Federici († 17. April 2008) I don't know.
And Bruce. I don't find any words to describe his performance. He was smiling every time, he gave all his power, he worked his Fender Telecaster and he gave us all his great music nearly 3 hours.

Hi friends,

now I was a long time away from the blogland and I miss this space. Hope to come back regulary.
Last week I bought a ticket to see the boss, or better
Bruce Springsteen with the E-Street-Band in Düsseldorf.

I saw him 24 years ago in Frankfurt. I'm so happy to see this fantastic artist again with his band. It will be a open air concert. Hope it will be good weather.

OK, last sunday I had a look on my old tickets and I thought about we have lost the art of the tickets. Today all tickets are looking the same. I miss the art on the tickets, because there was more feeling, if I look back to the tickets month or years ago.
I had collect a lot of concert tickets and I will show some in my next posts.

Here ist the first one.

The first Bruce Springsteen LP I bought 1975. It was "Born to run". Since this year I love his music. 2005, I got a CD-box with a remastered "Born to run" and two DVD;s.

Very often I listen to this CD. On this are my favorite songs from Bruce. Most of all I love "Thunder Road", "Backstreets", "She's the one" and "Jungeland". The last days I listen again and again "Live in New York City". From this concerts you can buy a great DVD and you can see the power of the E-Street-Band and Bruce.

Think I come back after the show and tell you some about.

Landmarks

Hi all together,

I'm back again. In the meantime I was very lazy and wrote no comments except on Pete's blog and Rachels new forum blog. I'm sorry for this.

Now it's time to go on.
Maria (Whisty) gave me the idea to show you my favorite places here in Kassel. Thanks a lot Maria.

The first place I love is the castle "Wilhelmshöhe" with the park.

The castle was build between the years 1786-1798 from the architect
"Simon Louis du Ry" (13.01.1726 in Kassel; † 23.08.1799 Kassel).
Today you can find a museum in the building with a picture gallery of old painters like "Rembrandt van Rijn", "Frans Hals", "Peter Paul Rubens" and more.

Wilhelmshöhe is not far away from the place I live and so I can visit very often to have a walk.

The other places I love is the area of the part of my hometown where I live.
The name is "Vorder Westen".

A Merry and Peaceful Christmas

Hello all my friends,

I wish you all a Merry and Peaceful Christmas and a fantastic new year 2008.

This year was passing by so fast and I can't believe it's over now in some days. Think it was a good year for my family and me. Hope for you all, too.

Now I'm prepareing the Christmas dinner for tomorrow. I celebrate the Christmas Eve together with my both kids, my parents and my sister with family. We are nine persons. The Chocolate cake is ready and now I'm starting with a "Muosse au chocolate".

Hellmut Hatter's music and gig in Kassel

this was an October!
First THE WHO in Hannover and then two gigs with the German bassplayer HELLMUT HATTLER.
First I heard and saw Hellmut Hattler years ago several times with the German band KRAAN and later with TAB TWO. This was a project with him and Joo Kraus (trumpet). TAB TWO played Acid Jazz with Hip-Hop, Trip Hop and Drum and Bass.

At the year 2000 he started a new project called HATTLER.
His CD "No eats yes" got 2001 the German record prize ECHO.
Since 2006 he is playing together with Fola Dada (voice), Torsten de Winkel (electric guitar and electric sitar) and Oli Rubow (drums and electronics).

The first gig I saw, was here in Kassel in a very small venue.
The music is near Jazz and Funk-Rock or better Acid Jazz.
Fantastic!
There is a feeling in the music I can't describe.
The clear bass from the extraordianry Hellmut Hattler and the drums with electronics from the impressive Oli Rubow is driving the music. The brilliant guitarplay from Torsten de Winkel and a voice with a sensitive feeling from Fola Dada.
You can't stand still. It's such a cool music.
Hellmut Hattler plays his bass sometimes like a guitar. He is playing his instrument not in the way like other bassplayers. It's an own style and an own sound. Great!

Some days after the gig in Kassel I drove to see the band again in Göttingen (only 30 minutes away from Kassel). I must do this, because one time was not enough. This gig was great too. Now I'm sitting here and listen again and again Hellmut Hattlers music.

The Magic Bus was back in Germany

Hi,

last saturday, my both kids and my best friend saw THE WHO in Hannover. Some weeks ago I got the information about a concert from THE WHO at the VW Bulli meeting.

The Who in Fulda (Germany) 2007

VW celebrated 60 Bulli years.

You only got tickets as an owner of a VW Bulli. I sold my VW camping bus some years ago, but my best friend has one and so he got four tickets and a free day from his girlfriend. Ha, ha! She is so kind.
Hannover is not so far away from Kassel. Only one and a half hour with the car.
We arrived in the afternoon and we saw a lot of fantastic old VW Bullis.
The show started at 8 PM and the Pete and Roger, Simon, Zak, Rabbit and Pino were in a fantastic condition and in a great mood. The sound was brilliant (loud and clear) and the setlist great too.
Charly, Konstantin and I stood in the second row in the middle between Pete and Roger. My kids could see all. Both are the new generation of WHO fans. The best was, they played "Magic bus". I read it was the first time since 1979 in Nuremberg (Germany).
I think all in the band had a lot of fun to play this gig. Pete done his jumps and a lot of windmilling. Roger thrown his microphone very often. They all had such a power.

Documenta artist "George Osodi"

Hi,

the DOCUMENTA 12 is comming to the end in September after 100 days. For me it was a fantastic summer her in my hometown. Ever, if I had free time I took a walk to this exhibition of modern art. The DOCUMENTA open up the gates every five years in Kassel. Today I write some about a artist from Nigeria. His name is "George Osodi".

George Osodi was born 1974 in Lagos (Nigeria) and his work on the Documenta is called

Oil Rich Niger Delta

He is a photographer and a photojornalist.

Since the first time I saw the pictures from this country I must think of them. They are very critical and they show the observer the exploition of the population and the country. Since 1956 the oil industriy make enormous profits and the money is comming into the goverment's coffers and not to the people in this country. Not to speak of the pollution. If I saw the pictures I will be shocked. I saw a lot of pics from Africa in the past, but this one from Osodi are more realistic as others.

In his own words he will show a provide balance view "The good, the bad and the ugly". He will view a place that is it self severely out of kilter.

My opinion is, we must help the african people, we must think about a better world and try to find a way to give all people a better chance. Let us pray and try to find a way.

now my spring concert season is over. I saw several concerts. First I started to see the German band SILBERMOND in Kassel/Calden (open air) together with my both kids. SILBERMOND are playing German rock music. I love the music from this band. Last year I saw them in Göttingen and if I have the chance I will see them some times more.

After a rest of 8 days the highlight was comming.
THE WHO in Fulda (09. June 2007). We were driving to Fulda very early, because I want to show my kids the town with the cathedral.
This WHO gig was an open air on the earlier airfield of the US forces outside the town.

We had very much luck because Konstantin was standing in the first row on the side between Roger and Pete. Charlotte and I two rows back. They playing very loud, but with a clear sound. Pete had some trouble with his guitar and the amp. The support act was "The Cult". I don't like her music very much. THE WHO were playing a normal set. I miss the mini opera "Wire & Glass". Most of all I miss "Black Widow's Eyes". This is my favorite song from the "Endless wire". I like it more, if I can listen to new songs, because I hear and saw the old ones a lot of time in my life. Both kids were so happy to see the band the second time after the show in Ulm last year.

Ian Rankin , " Knots and Crosses"

Hi,

now I have some free time and I can go on with some writing. I read a lot about the books from Ian Rankin, but never bought one. My thinking was, to buy the first and make my own opinion. My problem is, mostly I read not a lot of crime, only the books from "Elisabeth George".
OK, last saturday I got the book "Knotes and Crosses" (The german translation is very bad "Verborgene Muster"). The right translation must be "Knoten und Kreuze". The same evening I started with this book.
The story told about the "Detective Inspector John Rebus" and it's the beginning with a following of several books with him. The last published crime story, I think is "The naming of the dead". (I bought it in english and I will be starting next week.)

The summary of "Knots and Crosses" is:
Detective Inspector Rebus is living in Edinburgh alone. He is a man in his fourty and living seperatly from his wife and daughter. Rebus is drinking a lot of alcohol and he is smoking very much. There is a man who murdered two littele girls and a third one is be kidnaping. Rebus try to find him and suddenly he get some letters with obscure advices. Later his own daughter is missing. What's going on?

Now I say this Rebus novel is one you can read very quick and it's not with a lot of literary demand, but the story is thrilling. I'm be in expectation of "The naming of the dead".

I read on Anne Marie's blog the review of "We Will Rock You" with the music of the band Queen. Now it's nearly 25 years ago I saw here in my hometown "Queen". (18. May 1982). I'm not such a fan of her music and I only own one CD (Innuendo 1991), but I remember this concert and it was fanastic.

Hello,

here the lazy blogger is back.

This picture is made by my son last week with my old Canon camera.

Since weeks I want to write something, but I was without passion and there was a lot of work at my business. Today the sun was shining and the spring is back. All looks so beautiful. The flowers are comming into blossom and the grey colour is changing into green. Last week I had a day off and the kids and I made a walk to the park "Wilhelmshöhe" (Kassel).

Good friday, we three listen to a symphony concert here at the city hall with the Staatsorchester Kassel.
The conductor was Roberto Paternostro.
We heard some from Richard Wagner "Parsifal" ("Prelude" and "Good friday magic") and from Anton Bruckner the "Symphony No.4 Es-Dur".
We had a fantastic evening. I love the music from Bruckner and Wagner.

The next concert I will see is Gustav Mahler's Symphonie No.2, at the same place.

I'm sitting here and listen to the music written by Richard Wagner

(Tristan and Isolde).

Last saturday was a great day, because I went to the opera with my mother here in my hometown Kassel.

After a break of more than 2 years the theatre open up the gates again.

(I have a premiere subscription for the opera since years.)

In the meantime, if the house will be renovated, we saw the music theatre in a tent and I saw some fantastic performances, but now the music is back in the old/new theatre.

Tristan und Isolde was written by Richard Wagner
and the first performance was at the 10. June 1865 in Munich

(four hours run)

After the opening words from the theatre manger Thomas Bockelmann and the minister president from Hessen Roland Koch and the mayor from Kassel the music started.

It was great. All, the singer and the orchestra playing fantastic. The production was very simple with some chairs and some tables and one lamp (light). The story and the music is very dark and therefore the production is going very well with the music. (My opinion.) This perfomance is very modern, but the operas from Wagner, especially "The Ring" can taken in our time real good.

My favorite Tristan und Isolde CD is from the Chorus and Orchestra of The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (Conductor: Antonio Pappano) Tristan is Placido Domingo and Isolde is Nina Stemme.

’I wanna die, before I get old’. It's hillering very loud across the cathedral's square in Ulm. And the best is, it still sounds very convincing, though it doesn't sound logical, does it?! Up there are two rock dinos, who have celebrated their round 60th birthdays already a few years ago. But I swear, you don't realize and you don't see it. This here is most probably the most well done reunion of all those classical rockbands, who lately did reform for one or the other reason. Although it ain't a real reunion, is it?! Because the Who have never officially seperated. Let's call it rather long spaces inbetween action, and time for the guys to develope in their own creative individual way. Up's and Down's and inbetween always again and again - The Who live on stage. The only guy who took the famous slogan of this cultband 'I wanna die before I get old' - for granted, was drummer Keith Moon. - Bassist John Entwistle stayed a bit longer on this planet, before he took the balls as well and said good bye from this earth in a rather unspectular way.

Only the heart of the group survived all hurricans of life. And Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey are trying their best, to convince all Who fans including myself, that they are still very much alive and rather prefer to get old before they die. They haven't forgotten how to please us and make us jump up by presenting us those fabulous perls of rock'n'roll history.
Most important, Pete and Roger are showing the young generation, that bands from the glory sixties are not just oldies but still very lively rockers, who can put up easily with the youngster from today, what's up to the physical condition and the drive and including all their knowledge and experience. Combined with the unforgotten musical milestones, at least what's up to the music of the Who, they are still unbeatable - honestly.

It's loud, very loud indeed. Actually it is so loud, that the highest church tower in the world is suffering tinnitus tonight. It probably has never experienced such a thing. The wisdom tooth is loose inside the shaking walls. And the aprox. 7.000 freaks gathering on the square take care, that the earthquake is hitting a the top of the Richter scale.

I remember back buying my very first longplay record, when I was a young girl, aged 12 in 1973. It was 'Tommy' - the rockopera by the Who, not the film- but the band's version of course. And since that very day the who have always had a place in my musical backgrounds and roots.

To tell the truth, first I've been a bit sceptic about all this, because I remember at last year's Nokia Night of the Proms, when Roger Daltrey appeared on stage accompanied by a huge orchestra, performing some greatest hits of the Who. And it was everything else than spectacular according to major voice problems. Today I pray to heaven, that there won't be a Du ja vu' of this, and my disappointment from last year is gonna be increased. But fortunately it doesn't. Yep, with a slight irritation between the first and the second track thanks to technical reasons, they stand the test.

Meanwhile the square is standing on it's head, and granny and grandson, and daddy and daughter are moving along to this great show ending with the encore Pinball Wizard’ and last but not least ‚See Me Feel Me’.

Congratulation, this is an absolute phantastic debut again of the loudest band of the sixties early seventies. Or are they still the loudest??? After today's decibal thunderstorm, I'm not quite sure about that. - However, they don't need a monster stage like the Stones, or a big lightshow or special effects to show, that Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey and Co. still know how to rock and spice a hot chilly even hotter. They are no tired oldies and most of all, - there is no - I wanna die before I get old. Because for that - they are really too old....

I hope they will be come back this year to Europe.

It's a long time ago I wrote a post, but I lost my free time. Now I'm back and go on with blogging. My free time was gone, because I had a lot to work in my business and learn with my both kids Charly (crazycharly) and Konstantin for school.

I like the blogging, but I need some time to write.

Now Christmas is near and we have some days off. The Christmas Eve my kids and me are celebrating together with my parents at the home of my sister with family.

I love it every year again.

Now I promise to come back soon.

Fantastic new music

Hi,

four weeks ago I wrote my last post. I'm lazy, but now I start again with a new.

The reason to write today is: New music.

I think you all know, that I listen to different music like jazz, classic, rock and pop. One favorite is electronic too. There I prefer "Börk", "Micatone" and House music.

Since last friday I listen to a new CD.

The CD is from Ira.

She comes from Kassel and she's composing, playing and producing all titels by herself.

It's electronic music and I love her songs.

She called her CD "Results".

I can say it's extraordinarily fantastic music.

First I thought it's a little bit like "Börk", but after hearing the music more and more I think it's an own style.

The songs are in a different way as his playing in ITA. They are better, because there are great arrangement from all songs. The CD is produced by Simon Townshend.

My favorite is "Tourist" (of course) and "Wanting".

If you like to feel the heart of the songs, take your IPod or something else, go in the next park and sit down and listen, but if you listen to "Feel my heat" you must stand up and dance.

today I like to show you one of my pictures from the WHO concert 1989 (26. October) in London. I saw two shows in one week. The picture is from the second concert I saw. This was the Tommy tour.

This was the show as Roger left the stage at the end of "Behind blue eyes" and Pete sang "Won't get fooled again" and they finished the encore without Roger too. One guitar was smashed by Pete. I think he was very annoyed, because Roger was gone.

My hometown

Hi all together,

last sunday I made a long walk from my house and the area I live to the park "Wilhelmshöhe". I made some pictures, but I took an old film and most of the pictures are very bad. Some of the good ones I show you in these post.

This is an exhibition about modern art. You can see 100 days paintings, videos and so on.

1. September 1979 Nürnberg

Hello,

I'm back. In the meantime I wrote some comments on other blogs. I promised on my first entry to show some old pictures from The Who. This time I start with two from my first Who concert. This was at the 1. September 1979 in Nürnberg - Zeppelinfeld (Germany). It was an open-air concert. There will be 70.000 crowds. The Who were supported fom bands like The Scorpions, AC/DC (I think this was one of the last shows with Bon Scott), Cheap Trick, Nils Lofgren and Miriam Makeba.

The Who were fantastic and one of the high points was the laser show. My feeling was indescribable.

The pictures I've made with my A1 from Canon. Until today I work with this camera. Therefore I must make copies from the negatives into digital. Hope in the future to buy a digitalcamera, but the new one must make pics in the same quality or better.

Hello,
it's a long time ago I wrote someting on my blog. I have a busy time, ever. In the meantime I saw two good concerts in my hometown. Last thursday the band "Bajofondo Tango Club". They are from Argentinia. The music is between tango-music and DJ-sounds, loops, samples, electrobeats. In the background we saw a video-show. The band became an Oscar 2006 (Best Soundtrack for the movie "Brokeback Mountain"). Fantastic music.
Yesterday I went to a concert with the "Naked Raven". They are from Australia. It's music with vocals, piano, violin, cello, percussion and guitar. Please check out the webside of the "Raven" ( http://www.nakedraven.com/ ). I love it. It's such a brilliant music.
Now it's late afternoon here in Germany and there are only some days and it's WHO time in Berlin. I can't wait to see the band again.

Elvis Costello

Hi,
now it's time to go on with my writing. Last week I bought the new CD from Elvis Costello. It's called "The River in Reverse". This time Elvis made this album together with Allen Toussaint. I can say what a wounderful music. In the german "Jazz Echo" I read Elvis Costello want to cover songs from Allen Toussanit first, but then they wrote some new music together. They made the record in LA (8 days) and 5 days in New Orleans (the hometown of Allen Tousant)

Elvis is playing guitar, hammond B3 Organ and vocal Allen is playing Piano and Vocals Both are featuring by the band "The Imposters" and "The Crescent City Horns"

I like the music of Elvis Costello. There are some other records of him I like. One of his best, I mean, is the CD "For the stars" together with Anne von Otter. She sings classic music and opera.
A other project was a CD with Bill Frisell "Deep dead blue" recorded live 25. June 1995. Don't forget his CD "Mighty like a rose" or his songs with Burt Bacharan and all the other CD's.
Hope a lot of bloggers like his music too.

Hi,
this will be my first writing and I hope to write regular. Today it's sunday and I have some free time. I listen to the music of Laura Pausini (fantastic italian voice). The other music I listened today was Pete Townshend and some WHO. This will be a great summer. I bought tickets to see THE WHO in Berlin and one week later in Ulm with my both children. This will be the first time my children (13 years and 10 years old) see the band.
I saw THE WHO several times. First in Nürnberg (Germany) 1979, Frankfurt (Germany) 1980, London (UK) 1981, London (UK) 1989 with Tommy (two evenings), London Hyde Park (UK) 1996, Frankfurt (Germany) 1997, Dortmund (Germany) 1997 an the last time London (UK) 2000. Oh! I forgot one concert. I saw Pete Townshend with Lifehouse at Sadlers Wells in London (UK) 25. Febr. 2000. This was a great evening, because I like his music with an classic orchestra. After the show I had the chance to get an autograph by himself and I could speak some few words with him.
From the early WHO shows I made some pictures and I hope to show some in my blog, but I must find a way to made a copy from the my original films in digital. We will see. All best wishes from here.
